Form 15G & Form 15H — declaration to avoid TDS

Nil-TDS declaration15G: under 6015H: 60+Residents only

Form 15G (under 60) and Form 15H (60 and above) are self-declarations that your total income is below the taxable limit — so the bank/EPFO/payer does not deduct TDS.

Who can use it

  • Form 15G — a resident individual/HUF below 60, whose estimated income is below the basic exemption and whose final tax is nil.
  • Form 15H — a resident senior citizen (60+); the condition is slightly easier.
  • Not for NRIs.

Where it's used

Bank/post-office interest, EPF withdrawal, rent, some corporate deposits.

Important

Only submit if the declaration is true — a false 15G/15H to escape TDS carries penalties. Full detail for provident fund: Form 15G for PF withdrawal.
