How to find your UAN (Universal Account Number)

Quick answer

Your UAN is a 12-digit number that links all your PF accounts. Find it on your salary slip, from your employer, or via the EPFO portal's "Know Your UAN" service using your PAN/Aadhaar and a mobile OTP.

Where to find it

  1. Salary slip / PF statement — the UAN is usually printed there.
  2. Ask your employer/HR — they allot and know it.
  3. EPFO portal: go to the Member portal → "Know Your UAN", enter your mobile number, then verify with PAN or Aadhaar and an OTP — the UAN is shown.
  4. Missed-call / SMS service from your PF-registered mobile also returns UAN details.

Then activate it

Once you have the UAN, activate it on the Member portal and complete KYC (Aadhaar, PAN, bank) — that's what enables online transfers and withdrawals.
